New game
You have a game in progress.
With 4 or more Agents, one of the character cards is Tyndale's Secret Supporter. Someone may be holding it, but you won't know unless they are exposed.
How it works
You are a Bishop's Agent, hunting William Tyndale.
- Tyndale is translating the Bible into English. He must print each part at a new Printing Centre and ship it from a Coastal City to London. If the Old Testament reaches London, he wins.
- Each turn you roll (1 to 3) and move a pawn exactly that many steps. You may pass other pawns but not finish on one. The game then shows you two cards: whether Tyndale is there, and whether he left a translation (N, P, H or O), rumors of one next door, or nothing.
- Land on Tyndale and you win. What the Agents find is marked on the map, and the clues form his trail: follow it to the end.
- Other Agents tell you what they found, or “nothing to report”. You see only what they report.
The Secret Supporter
- With 4 or more Agents, one of the character cards is Tyndale's Secret Supporter. It may be dealt to one of the Agents, and that may be you.
- The Supporter looks like any other Agent, but may say “nothing to report” when they have found something, and carries a printed Bible to the coast for Tyndale.
- Each time a Bible part reaches London you may accuse an Agent. If most Agents vote with you and you are right, the Supporter is out. If you are wrong, you are out.
- If you are dealt the Supporter, you are told. You then choose what to report when you are shown Rumors or a translation, and try not to be exposed.
You are William Tyndale, on the run.
- The Agents place their pawns, then you choose where you begin. Each turn you tap your way along the map, one step at a time. A blue spot lets you take a second step. You may pass an Agent but not finish on one.
- To publish a translation, finish on a Printing Centre you have not used. Each publication earns a bonus move for later. To ship it, finish on a Coastal City: the number by the city is how many turns the shipment takes to reach London, and it is crossed off each turn.
- Shipping completes your next translation. When the Old Testament reaches London, you win. If an Agent lands on you, they win.
- Every spot you cross while a publication is printed is marked with its letter: those are the clues the Agents follow. Your scorecard shows the rest.
The Secret Supporter
- With 4 or more Agents, one of the character cards is your Secret Supporter. It may be dealt to one of the Agents, and if so the game tells you who.
- They look like any other Agent, but may hide what they find from the others, and carry a printed Bible to the coast and ship it for you.
- Each time a Bible part reaches London the Agents may accuse someone. If they expose your Supporter, that Agent is out.
